Okay, well, if you read the news on Bleeding Cool, I unfortunately have the sad duty to confirm that it’s true. As of Wednesday of last week, I was informed by an email from my new editor that I am no longer the writer of Batgirl.
I cannot express my disappointment…
So much nicer than the circumstances warrant.
The premise that Batman is a greaser mechanic by day, crime-fighter by night messes a little to much with my archetype of massive shitloads of money, but there you go.

Yea, I don’t know. Just messing around. Almost looks like a self-insert though… I wish. XD
Adorbs! And can I say that I especially like the solidity of Cass, as well as her clear Asian heritage. Not to mention how fucked up those kids must be with scars. I could aspire to this sort of art, but what’s the point? It will just make me sad.
(Man, I wish I could convey this amount of shape with this few lines. How does that work, anyway?)

This one was a bit of a struggle for me because 1) I find it hard to imagine Cass wearing a cutesy hoodie with ears XDD and 2) Her original superhero outfit is so badass I just want to see her in it all day (though I do wonder how she breathes through the mask, and whether or not it’ll be comfortable enough as not to impede her ass-kicking?). But as visuals go, it’s intimidating and menacing - as befits the character.thehappysorceress:Would you please draw all hero-ish/comic-y women in fall attire? Please?

Man, I’ve been wanting to tear this picture up since I saw it. Admittedly, it seems to be a sketch done on the fly at a con, but even so, it does not excuse the thighs. THE THIGHS. Holy SHIT, LAND. Worse than his usual crap, if you can believe it!

I like how the corrected version has a better sense of volume than the highly shaded version. I like how the original makes it look like Babs dumped a load into her panties (how else are you even going to start to describe the wreck that is her pelvis/thighs?).
Poor Land, asked to draw without his magazines right there, underneath his tracing paper. That must be so stressful for him. And, without his colourist (seriously, what’s up with the *gorgeous* colouring he always gets) there to romanticise the flaws away). I can barely believe he leaves the house, for fear of having to produce stuff like the above, left, when stuff like the above right is so much more Babs-o-riffic.
I can’t work out how I feel about this. A few things, I guess.
Firstly, it’s Adam Hughes, so it’s primo pencil work. Top notch. That’s a given. But what is Batgirl doing? I’ll give her the possibility of her position—I gotta pop a few joints to do that, but I’m a lump of couch potato, and she’s a highly trained gymnast. However, what is she doing? What is that position for? Why would she be in it? What position was she just in, and what position will she be in next?
How far are they off the ground? Batman looks like he’s really close to the ground. And her hands are in the wrong place for her to be vaulting over a fence or something. I feel like she should be pulling on something or pushing off something to generate that pose.
So, in summation: It’s really pretty. What does it MEAN?
I am reblogging this especially for ita, who will love it. I think it’s a great costume, but these photos will make ita’s day.
Oh, precisely the right call! You never get to see Cass cosplayed. I love this!
