Suddenly I am thinking about Data and Spot. Is that a thing, then? The inscrutable logical one who doesn’t understand people that well finds a cat a boon companion?
Cats over dogs because cats are less overtly emotional? Less full time demanding of attention and snuggles (theoretically, anyway)?
Cats over goldfish because cats do interact (I have a friend who swears his guppies interacted—that they recognised him, and would greet him when he came home from work. He did also have sex with his non-metaphorical six foot boa in the bed, so…) so they’re a stepping stone to understanding personalities? Just a baby step, though?
Hrrm. What other pets do robots and more-logical-than-average people have? Does Gladstone count?
