I swear, season 2 is where it gets funny. I felt like I wasn’t watching a comedy in the first season—more like a drama with extreme absurdity. I wasn’t bored or anything—I had an immediate attachment to Michael, as I expect you’re supposed to, and ended up adoring Buster, which quite surprised me, because that sort of character usually drives me batshit. I know what order they came in in real life, but I watched Archer first, so I am still seeing Malory where I’m supposed to be seeing Lucille. Which is fine—I just keep feeling there should be a Pam and a Lana just around the corner, you know?
But the first season finale was where I started grinning for long periods, as it all came together, and now that I’m on the second, it’s finally laugh out loud time. I really can’t extrapolate to how I would have handled this in real time, though.
